Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 July 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Dev Blog for Android app ("the app") handles information. This is an unofficial, open-source app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or the Android team.
What the app does
The app displays posts from the Android Developers Blog (android-developers.googleblog.com). It uses a custom library to parse the blog's HTML and render each article as a native user interface. The app itself does not run any user accounts or backend services.
Data we collect
The app does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
The only data the app stores is a local "favorite" flag that marks posts you choose to save. This flag is kept only on your device, is never uploaded anywhere, and is removed if you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Permissions
The app requests the following Android permissions:
INTERNETUsed to load blog posts and their content from the Android Developers Blog.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATEUsed to check network availability and type so the app can respect your data settings.CHANGE_NETWORK_STATEUsed together with your settings so you can allow or disable loading content over cellular (mobile) data.
Third-party content
When you read a post, content is fetched directly from the Android Developers Blog. That request is subject to Google's own privacy practices. The app does not add any third-party SDKs, trackers, or advertising networks.
Children's privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
